New Home, New Blog

In late March, our family moved into a new home here in LA. My husband, Denis, and I have lived in a lot of places over the eight years we’ve been together and this is for sure our favorite.

Most design and home decor bloggers I follow own their homes; they buy fixer uppers and document the incredible changes they make to them.

This isn’t going to be one of those blogs.

One, we’re renting. We tried owning a home a few years ago and whether it was the location (true suburbia), the house (it needed a lot of work), or home ownership itself, we were relieved to sell and get back to renting.

Two, neither Denis nor I are particularly handy. Even when I’m certain I’ve measured everything correctly, I inevitably make more holes than necessary when I try to do something as simple as hang curtains. Obviously, I keep trying to hang curtains because a room without curtains is like a face without eyebrows, but I also keep drilling too many holes.

Three, the structure doesn’t need work. It’s a new home and we’re incredibly lucky it’s so nice. But even when there were things I’ve wanted to change in our past homes, I’ve usually had to come up with workarounds. I think a dream house only goes as far as structure. Beyond that, it’s up to me to figure out how to make our home as beautiful and livable as possible.

This time, I thought I’d document the journey and I hope you’ll follow along.
